FAQ

You've got questions, we've got answers!

We've compiled a list of the most common questions asked from our renters.

RV rental period

We have a three (3) day minimum rental period on all of our units. There is no maximum on rental days. Give us a call for special pricing on rentals exceeding 7 days. (813) 802-9285.

Do I need a special license to drive an RV?

While you do not need a special license to drive an RV, you must be 25 years old and hold a valid driver’s license from your state of residence and have a clean driving record. There are no special permits or classes to attend to drive an RV. Each person that will be driving the RV will need to be listed and meet the same requirements.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept cash and all major Credit Cards- Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We require a valid Credit Card for your reservation deposit, even if paying in cash.

Do you require a security deposit?

Yes, RV’s are expensive and some can even cost as much as $500k, which is a substantial investment. Our security deposits range from $500.00 to $1500.00 depending on the unit. We will place a hold for the security deposit before your departure; this is released 10-14 days after the return of the RV rental. We collect a security deposit in the event of an accident or damage to the RV. This will cover the deductible and other damages that might be done, such as, but not limited to, pets, smoking, accidents, broken or missing items from the RV, windshield damages, roof damage, etc.

What type of insurance is required?

Journey RV Rental requires that you purchase insurance through MBA Insurance Co. for your Class A and Class C rental. This is something we will assist you with during the rental process. It varies from $25.00-$49.00 a day to purchase insurance through MBA. We also offer additional coverage SLI that covers you up to $1 million dollars. If you are renting a tow-behind camper, you will need to call your insurance company to make sure they will extend your auto policy to also cover the camper you are towing. Most companies will do this, however, if not, we can help you obtain insurance through MBA Insurance.

How many people can travel in the RV?

This depends on the model you rent from us, but most of our fleet can sit up to 8 people. A good rule of thumb is one person for one seat belt. Of course children should always go in the safety seat at all times while traveling.

How many people can sleep in the RV?

This depends on the RV you rent from us. Most units will sleep a minimum of 4 and some can sleep up to 10 people.

What is provided with my RV Rental and what do I need to bring?

At Journey RV Rentals we ensure you’ll have a full tank of fuel before you leave, full propane, empty waste tanks and full water tanks. We can provide linen and/or kitchen kits for your rental unit at an additional charge. We also have several add-on options available to you which you can see in our Rental Agreement. Contact us at (813) 802-9285 for more info on the particular unit you are renting and we can guide you on what you will need to bring for your trip.

What is the gas mileage like driving an RV?

There are several factors that come into play when talking about gas mileage, such as type and size of the RV, terrain, and personal driving habits. Typically you can expect to get 8-14 mpg driving an RV. If you are driving steep terrains and travelling faster than 65 mph you will get less than ideal MPG when you travel.

Do you allow smoking in the RV?

Absolutely not… All of our coaches and travel trailers are 100% smoke-free and we plan to keep it this way. We have a very strict policy on smoking and we ask that you do not smoke in our RV’s or within 25ft of the rental unit. We charge $500 if you smoke in your rental unit. The smell is stubborn and tough to get out; we have to hire a company that specializes in removing smoke odor from the unit if it has been smoked in.

Will you deliver the RV rental?

Yes, we deliver for an additional fee. We deliver travel trailers and motorhomes anywhere in the country at your request. However we do take into account mileage, days traveled and time spent when delivering the unit to your requested location. We regularly deliver to Disney, Daytona, Sebring, North and South Florida and other popular RV spots. Contact us for more details on our RV delivery services at (813) 802-9285.

Do you offer one-way RV Rentals?

At this time we do not offer one-way RV Rentals. All of our rentals are picked up and dropped off at our location here in Tampa, Florida. However, if you would like to travel only one-way, we can have someone pick up the RV and return it to our location for an additional charge. In this scenario, mileage, travel time and days spent are all taken into account. See our delivery services.

What is your return/drop-off policy?

We ask that you return the RV Rental the same way you picked it up. If the RV rental is returned early there are no refunds, no exceptions. RV rental return is no later than 12:00 pm on the end date of your Rental Agreement. Late Returns will be charged $75.00 an hour up to 5 hours and then 1 and ½ day daily rate will be charged after that.

Do you allow Pets?

We understand that pets are just like members of your family – sometimes you want them to come along! We handle pets on a case-by-case basis.

Can I tow something behind my RV Rental?

It depends on what you are wanting to tow. Please call us at (813) 802-9285 to discuss towing options.

Generator use

We include the use of the generator in our pricing. The generator allows the operation of the AC, TV’s, accessories, lights and so on. You will need to periodically check the oil level in the generator and add oil as needed. The generator takes fuel from the main fuel tank of the RV, and will automatically shut off when the main tank is below a quarter tank. This way, when you are sleeping at night, you wont be stranded without fuel. The generator will automatically shut off if the oil is low or if the main fuel tank is below a quarter tank. Please make sure to check both at every stop when re-fueling.

Accidents

Contact Journey RV Rentals immediately (813) 802-9285 if your rental unit is involved in an accident. We ask that you ensure everyone is ok inside the RV first, and then make sure everyone else involved is ok. In the unfortunate event of an accident we want you to know how the situation will be handled. Our goal is to be as honest, up front and clear as possible so there aren’t any surprises. If you have ANY questions please do not hesitate to contact us at (813) 802-9285. MUST DO: We ask that you contact the police so they can write up a detailed description of the accident. Take pictures, close ups of ALL vehicles involved, the intersection or place that the accident took place and pictures of the accident with the vehicles involved from afar. Different angles of the scene and accident are always good to have. A full written police accident report must be submitted to our management upon your return. Failure to comply with these items will result in the forfeiture of your entire security deposit.

Waste tanks and fresh water tanks: Fresh, Black and Gray

We require that you dump and flush the holding tanks prior to your return, unless you opt for our Prepaid Dump and Flush option, which is $100.00. If you are planning an extended trip we will show you how and where to dump and refill your tanks on the road.

Do I get any training or instruction before leaving?

Yes, we perform a walk through and orientation for your rental unit as part of our Startup Kit. Each unit is different, so we walk you through all the systems, as well as perform a safety walk-through with you prior to departure. Also, we can take you for a test drive and show you the basics of driving an RV. Please plan for 1-2 hours for the orientation. This is mandatory before you can take your rental unit.

What time is pick-up and return?

Pick up times can vary depending on the needs of each customer; we do our best to accommodate each customer based on their needs. We ask that you let us know what time you will be picking up your RV, so we can get the RV up and running prior to your arrival. This way, the refrigerator will be cold and the A/C will cool off your rental unit. Pick up times are between 9:00am and 3:00pm on the start date of your trip. If you need special accommodations please contact us at (813) 802-9285 and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Some charges may apply. Return time is no later than 12:00pm on the date of your return; we ask that you call 45min prior to arrival. We do charge late fees of $75.00 per hour if you do not return within the allotted return time of 12:00pm on the end day of your rental.

Prep Fees?

We are an all inclusive company when it comes to mileage and generator use, however, we do charge a mandatory prep fee of $149.00 on all of our camper rentals and $199.00 on all of our motorized RVs. This includes rental orientation, cleaning/sanitizing prior to pickup, toilet paper, toilet deodorizer, and exterior cleaning after drop-off. All rental units must still be returned undamaged and clean inside. If the RV is not returned clean and requires excessive cleaning you will be charged an additional Cleaning Fee of $175.00.

Roof storage, sitting, standing on top of the RV?

This is NOT allowed at any time. Evidence of these violations will result in the forfeit of the security deposit.

Malfunctions?

We inspect, test and maintain our units to the highest standards so that you will not experience any malfunctions. If you have issues on the road, give us a call and we will do our absolute best to walk you through troubleshooting procedures to resolve the issue. However, malfunctions of the AC, TV, DVD, BLU RAY, SATELLITE (if applicable) stove, fans, small appliances, batteries, water pumps, water heaters or generators are NOT considered mechanical breakdowns and will not result in a refund. We look at each situation on a case by case basis. Any malfunction must be reported to Journey RV Rentals ASAP. (813) 802-9285.

You are responsible for any damage during the rental period for any awning damage as it is not covered under insurance.
